Samuel is the Founder Partner of S & H Partners and focuses on the firm’s IP practice. Prior to establishing S & H, Samuel was Counsel and lead for IP at Khaitan & Co in their Bangalore office and was earlier, Partner & Head of Electronics Practice Area at K&S Partners in their head office, Gurgaon.

Samuel primarily handles drafting and prosecution of patent applications in the areas of computers, electronics, telematics, IOT, artificial intelligence, image processing, computer software, business methods, telecommunications, automotive, electrical and mechanical automation. In addition, he handles Trademark and Design matters for his clients.

Samuel has over 15 years of experience in patent prosecution matters and has significant experience in prosecuting trademark and design matters. He advises client’s on issues relating to enforcement and infringement of intellectual property rights, patentability, freedom to operate, invalidity, due diligence, business strategies, acquisition strategies and technology trends apart from managing patent portfolios. He understands that intellectual property issues are fundamentals to all high‐technology business today, and that these IP issues affect innovation, business strategies, acquisition strategies and more. This understanding of client’s perspective, combined with his engineering background gives him a distinct edge in patent prosecution areas of electronic devices, products and systems, as well as software systems which has helped him to successfully obtain allowance of some fascinating patent applications.

Notably, Samuel has worked closely with Qualcomm and Ericsson for their patent portfolios in India. In addition, he has worked closely with Daimler India for drafting and prosecuting their patent application in the automobile sector and has worked closely with Shanghai Boiler Works, China on boiler technology to help them enforce their patent rights in India. In addition, he has been assisting a number of multinational corporations, prestigious Indian establishments, Indian e‐commerce industries, Indian government organizations and with many start‐ups in India for handling their IP portfolio strategic creation and management.

Samuel regularly appears before Indian Patent Office, Intellectual Property Appellate Board, High Courts and District Courts, Trademark Registry and Design Office in connection with prosecution and enforcement of IP rights. Himanshu has a diverse background in IPR field and he has worked on both side of Trademark prosecution field. He has over 14 years of experience and has worked as a Trademark Attorney with reputed Law Firms (Singhania & Co, Singh & Associates) as well as a Trademark Examiner with Indian Trademark Office.

He started his carrier as a Trademark Attorney in the year 2007 and since then he gained tremendous experience in providing expert advice regarding the protection of trademarks, domain names, trade names worldwide, IP due diligence analyses, handling of infringement and other conflict situations relating to Indian Jurisdiction to various National and International clients. During his tenure as an Examiner of Trademarks for 3 years with the Indian Trademark Office, he was involved in the examination of trademark applications, registrations, renewals, assignments and certification.

His core practice as a Trademark Attorney is focused on trademark prosecution and opinion work relating to trademark registrability, opposition, infringement and passing‐off actions, licensing and assignment, counterfeiting, customs actions, investigations etc.

He also specialises in the Copyright matters before the Indian Copyright Office. He has successfully advised clients on issues relating to copyright registration and infringement.
